Top 10 prospects in Argentina, editorial

Numerous outstanding footballers from Argentina go on to achieve more considerable achievements once they make it to the top European leagues. The following ten players from the local Argentine first division, in my view, are most likely to succeed in the major European football leagues soon (note that some of these players have had brief stints in Europe in the past)

10. Sebastian Fernandez (Banfield) Since joining El Taladro from Defensor Sporting, the young Uruguayan player has been in phenomenal form. A quick player with a keen eye for goal, Fernandez. His agility and tenacity suggest that he can revolutionize European football.

9. Diego Buonanotte (River Plate) Buonanotte, although having tremendous skill, is a highly erratic player, this may be large because River Plate is an inconsistent squad. The little striker has resumed displaying moments of brilliance this season, and he must keep doing so to earn a transfer to a European team. Juventus had shown interest, but he will have to wait for a potential transfer because of his recent slump.

8. Pablo Mouche (Boca Juniors) Although the 22-year-old has not yet reached his full potential, his captivating style of play suggests that he may become a future star. Mouche is a smart and extremely skilled player who assists in the attack and scores goals himself. He has the potential to be unstoppable when at his best. He turned down a transfer to Parma earlier this year to improve at Boca.

7. Antonio Boghossian (Newell´s) Uruguayans appear to be trendy in the Argentine top flight. In the off-season, Boghossian moved to Newell’s from Cerro, and the powerful attacker has quickly adjusted to the Argentine style. Boghossian is the reason La Lepra is in the championship race with seven goals, including two in the win against River last weekend.

6. Santiago Silva (Banfield) Silva, who currently has 11 goals to his credit and is the league’s top scorer for Banfield, has been in exceptional form this year. In the Banfield attack this season, the Uruguayan has been ably supported by fellow countryman Fernandez, and he is expected to succeed if he decides to try his luck in Europe once more. Few strikers have his desire for scoring goals.

5. Sebastian Battaglia (Boca Juniors) Battaglia, who spent time at Villarreal, still has time to establish himself on the European scene despite being 29 years old. With 17 trophies to his name, the defensive midfielder owns the record for most titles won with Boca Juniors, and he still plays a key role in the team’s success. AC Milan, Manchester United, and Lazio have lately shown interest in him, but he chose to stay at Boca.

4. Nicolas Otamendi (Velez Sarsfield) Otamendi, one of the top defenders in Argentine football, made his debut for Diego Maradona’s national team in the World Cup qualification loss to Ecuador. Otamendi, who helped Velez Sarsfield win the Clausura title, is anticipated to join Real Madrid for the upcoming campaign.

3. Mario Bolatti (Huracan) Bolatti first gained international recognition when he scored the decisive goal against Uruguay to guarantee Argentina’s place in the 2010 World Cup. The youngster is under further strain since Maradona has already stated that he will travel with the player to South Africa. The former FC Porto player has been at the peak of his career since joining Huracan and returning to Argentine football. His ability to intercept the ball and distribute it well are his strongest traits, although he can be deadly when in the area.

2. Eduardo Salvio (Lanus) Following several standout performances for his team, the Lanus striker is about to become a household name. Salvio is not only incredibly speedy, but he also consistently finds the back of the goal. He still has lots of time to grow at the age of 19, but it may happen at a European club, with Juventus being the clear favorite.

1. Mauro Boselli (Estudiantes) Since joining Estudiantes from Boca Juniors, Boselli has cemented his position as the top striker in Argentina, making him the country’s most promising indigenous prospect. He was essential to Estudiantes’ Copa Libertadores victory, scoring the game-winning goal against Cruzeiro in the second leg of the championship. Boselli may compete in South Africa the following year if he maintains his excellent performance.
