After defeating Rodolfo D’Onofrio by six votes, Daniel Passarella was officially named the new president of the Argentine powerhouse River Plate ( 5,298 to 5,292). D’Onofrio initially seemed to have the most votes, but Passarella won after the ballots were revised.
