Argentine striker Luciano Figueroa has come to a verbal agreement to return to Rosario Central to confront the Argentine Clausura championship of 2010. Figueroa, who has also played for Boca Juniors and River Plate in Argentina, will terminate his contract with Italian side Genoa in the following days.
Figueroa, 28, will be out of action for up to two months after undergoing knee surgery just a few days ago. The former Argentine international is looking forward to his latest assignment with Rosario Central, and is hoping that the side can mount a strong title challenge.
Rosario Central finished in tenth-place of the Argentine Apertura championship last season, a big improvement when compared to in past seasons.
Since making his professional debut for Rosario in 2001, Figueroa went on to play for Birmingham City, Cruz Azul, Villarreal, River, Boca and Genoa.
He has made 15 appearances for the Argentine national team, scoring 9 goals.
