Roberto Carlos joins Corinthians as a transfer

Roberto Carlos, a former Brazilian international, has agreed to sign a two-year deal with Corinthians, which will bring him back together with Cristiano Ronaldo as the team aims to capture the Copa Libertadores for the first time in 2010. Roberto Carlos, 36, announced that he will retire once his contract with Corinthians expires.

After spending 15 years in Europe, where he played for Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Fenerbahce, Roberto Carlos is making a comeback to Brazilian football.

He stated, “Playing the Libertadores in their centennial year is a big year for Corinthians. “This championship would be just as significant—if not more significant—than the European Champions League I won with Real Madrid. It’s one of the few championships in my career that I haven’t won.

More than 3,000 supporters greeted Roberto Carlos at the Pacaembu stadium as they welcomed him to Corinthians. Roberto Carlos will always be renowned for his patented free kicks.

At this point in his career, the left-back is thrilled to have the chance to play with close friend and former teammate Ronaldo.

Roberto Carlos declared, “I can call Ronaldo my brother. He’s not only my friend.” I’ve gained a lot from working with him, and I’m glad to see him back to scoring goals.

Roberto Carlos played for Corinthians’ bitter rivals Palmeiras from 1991 until 1995.
