World Cup qualifying is a top aim for Colombia, says FCF

The newly established Colombian Football Federation has said that assisting Colombia in reaching the 2014 World Cup, which will be held in Brazil, is their top aim. The assembly’s first action will be to choose the coach who will lead them to the World Cup in April. Los Cafeteros, who have missed out on the previous three World Cups—2002, 2006, and 2010—have a lot of options for turning things around.

The best possibility to replace Hernan Dario Gomez as a manager is Francisco Maturana, whose future is uncertain. Gomez declined the opportunity to lead Ecuador to maintain his prospects of leading Colombia.

The goal, according to Luis Bedoya, the new head of the Colombian Football Federation, “is to qualify for the 2014 World Cup and to be finalists of the U-20 World Cup of next year, which will be held in our country.”

We still haven’t decided who will be the coach, but Francisco Maturana will be confirmed as the manager of the national teams, as required by FIFA.

Bolillo Gomez’s name wasn’t important to us, but that doesn’t mean we ignored him, he said in his conclusion.

To improve the fortunes of their national squad, Colombia has undertaken several changes. Rumor has claimed that the Colombian Federation will contract with American sportswear company Nike to provide them with their athletic apparel in 2014.
