Tabare Viudez, a midfielder from Uruguay, is about to sign a contract with America, the richest team in Mexico. When Viudez joined Defensor Sporting after leaving AC Milan last year, the United States took notice of his impressive performances with the team from Parque Rodo in the Uruguayan Clausura tournament.
The player will depart the team, according to Defensor president Dante Prado, who reached a transfer agreement with America. The 21-year-old joined Los Aguilas on a four-year contract, making him the club’s first official integration for the next season.
The onerous task of replacing Paraguayan striker Salvador Cabanas, who is recuperating in the hospital after being shot in the head earlier this year, will fall to the Uruguayan.
Viudez produced an incredible goal as Uruguay beat England 1-0 in the opening round of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt last year.
