Ronaldinho will represent Brazil at the World Cup; Neymar will not

Ronaldinho is anticipated to be included on Dunga’s roster

The Brazilian national team’s coach, Dunga, will have to face continual criticism from the local media and is not expected to include Santos star Neymar to his 23-man World Cup roster. Dunga, on the other hand, is expected to pave the way for Ronaldinho, the outstanding player for AC Milan who has improved this season.

The Selecao coach allegedly confided in Pele that he will reveal a surprise while announcing his World Cup roster on May 11 in Rio de Janeiro, according to Folha de S. Paulo. Ronaldinho, not Neymar, will be the player in question. The victor of the 2002 World Cup’s experience appears to have been the deciding factor.

Additionally, Ronaldinho’s resurgence with Milan and the fact that he has been scoring goals—10 goals in Serie A this season—seem to have impressed Dunga. Ronaldinho has previously competed in two World Cups, starting each of them, and has the necessary experience to represent Brazil in South Africa. This was another factor in Dunga’s selection.

Neymar, on the other hand, has yet to play for Brazil’s senior team and was only allowed to compete in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2009, when Brazil was eliminated in the first round following losses to Mexico and Switzerland and victories over Japan and Japan, all of which Neymar scored in.
