After much speculation the Venezuelan Football Association (FVF), affirmed that Cesar Farias will remain as the coach of the Venezuelan national team. La Vinotinto recently came their closest to qualifying for a World Cup, and the president of the FVF, Rafael Esquivel, decided to renovate the contract of Farias looking ahead to the 2014 World Cup.

For now, Noel Sanvicente won´t have the opportunity to take over the side, and neither will a foreign coach.

“For me Cesar Farias has already had his contract renovated,” stated Serafin Boutureira, the general secretary of the FVF.

The official announcement will be in either December or January, “but the directory have already analysed it and are completely in favour of his continuation.”

Under the directions of Farias, Venezuela finished in eighth-place of the South American World Cup qualifiers with 22 points, twelve points behind group winners Brazil.

Venezuela are currently in 51st position of the FIFA World Rankings.
